The Simple Guide to Oberlin Romance (source). Amazing.
One snowy afternoon during the holiday season, a small fish appeared on the mantle-piece above the not-so-functional fireplace. Upon further investigation, a note was found attached, which read (roughty):
“Dear WT Keep and S&S: My name is Sherbert and I got locked out of my room! Please let me stay here. If you need to move me, please call Jen G. <3 Sherbert
PS: I belong to CPH”
Welcome to the family, Sherbert!

Things I like:
Heard Lucy Wainwright Roche for the 7th time last Sunday. This photograph is a bit trippy, but I love it. The show was totally awesome, as usual.

Three Things I Love About Oberlin
Obviously, there are lots of things I love about Oberlin so far, but here are three things (one for each full week I’ve spent here) that come to mind:
1. The People – Simply put, the people at Oberlin are amazing. The other day, some friends and I were marveling that everyone we’ve met has been nice. I haven’t met one person who immediately set of my jerk alarm – that is a truly amazing thing. But more importantly, everyone here is passionate about something, whether it’s human rights, film, or neuroscience. Even when I don’t share their interests, which I often don’t, it’s fascinating and exciting when people talk about what they really love.
2. The Music – Obviously, Oberlin has a fantastic conservatory, but music is everywhere at Oberlin. It seems like every student here is involved with music. Take my hall in Kahn for example, there are eight conservatory students, a guy who makes electronic mixes, two violinists in the college, a flautist in the college, a few singers in the college, and me, with my classical voice lessons and ukulele on top of my dresser. I’m sure I’m forgetting someone, but you get the picture – music is a huge part of Oberlin and I love that. Another plus is that there are a lot of conservatory resources open to college students. Take me as an example, I’m currently singing in the Treble Ensemble, singed up for secondary voice lessons, and taking Music History 101, a really fantastic class that I would highly recommend – not to mention Nothing But Treble. :)
3. The Bikes – When I visited Oberlin for the first time, one of the things that made me think that it was the right place for me was the number of bikes. Bikes chained to columns, trees, and bike locks in front of every building. I don’t think that I’ve ever been somewhere with more bikes. At home, my bike is my mode of transportation of choice. In fact, I didn’t get my license until the very end of senior year because I went everywhere on my bike. Sustainability is a major concern for me so that’s probably a big reason as to why I love biking, but my dad is really into bikes, so that probably rubbed off on me a bit. I love riding my bike around campus and not being the only one around on two wheels. Plus, the bike co-op is an awesome resource that I’m proud to be a part of. I worked my first shift there today and I had a lot of fun starting to put a rental bike together.
